[edit] Origins

During the Exodus from Garternay, the main part of the Ronay relocated to Terahnee. It was described as a visually perfect Age, with everything placed "just so as to please the eye". The founder of Terahnee was the Nameless King, possibly the same figure as the last king of Garternay.

[edit] History and culture

For nearly ten thousand years afterwards Terahnee seems not to have survived the Guilds system of Garternay, but like the D'ni, they retained the tradition of the Art and the prophets. Several writings concerning the future of Terahnee have survived until their later years.

Terahnee was ruled by a line of kings with the aid of a council of advisers. Beneath the kings were the governors of the various districts.

This Age, however, held a dark secret, the relyimah. Ahrotahntee came to be seen as existing for the purposes of the Terahnee people, culminating in a system of slavery. The P'aarli stewards of the Terahnee were also Ahrotahntee trained to be strict and cruel butlers and servants. They would collect children from other Ages and train them as unseen slaves to carry out manual and domestic labor. Each of the Terahnee was trained from youth to learn to 'ignore' seeing the Relyimah, in order to remain in perpetual bliss; the result was that all Relyimah were 'unseen' for all Terhanee.

It was a capital offense to challenge this system.

[edit] Rediscovery and Fall

The fall of Terahnee was precipitated by the arrival of a party from D'ni, led by Atrus, who had rediscovered the link between the Ages. They were welcomed at first, but made the claim that ahrotahntee could Write, which the Terahnee considered heresy. Before any measures could be taken, a devastating plague broke out, derived from D'ni stomach bacteria which proved deadly to many of the Terahnee and relyimah. The entire social structure of Terahnee was upended by the widespread death of the masters, setting the relyimah free.

After brief conflicts with the P'aarli and the ambitious relyimah Ymur, a new Terahnee society was formed based on the laws of D'ni. The Age was renamed Devokan (DevoKån[?]), the D'ni word for "hope".
