Noloben is an Age which consists of a series of rocky islands, each of which is sandy around the coast but holds a raised, grassy plateau in the centre. It hosts a vast amount of wildlife ranging from birds to snakes. Bahro inhabit the Age.
Esher escaped from the fall of D'ni by linking to Noloben where he spent the next few hundred years experimenting on the Bahro. He was discovered by the DRC during their exploration of D'ni. It is not clear why Atrus didn't locate him during his search for survivors.
Esher felt forced to kill a number of Bahro in order to learn their secrets. As a result, the Bahro became afraid of his lab and avoided it at all costs when Esher was in residence.
It was used by the Bahro as the location for one of their slates.
The wildlife of the age includes many species of seabirds and snakes, as well as Bahro.

[edit] Background
Following Uru Live (2003)'s cancellation, Noloben, which had been used in teaser shots (such as in a wide banner atop the Ubiru website) and thus widely speculated to become one of the first pieces of new content to be released, never actually became part of that iteration of Uru. It also was not added to either of the expansion packs.
Instead, it would become part of Myst V: End of Ages. During its development process, the storyline was changed. At one point, Noloben was so vastly different that a new name was warranted, Siralehn. However, as the storyline had been refined even further, and Esher brought in as a character, this name change was reverted, primarily as a vague reference to a surviving D'ni person had already been made in Uru (namely, a DRC note in the Baron's Office, which cites Noloben as the home of this person), during the Prologue.
Still, the Noloben seen in End of Ages differs in a lot of aspects from the one that could be seen in screenshots, although both variants are true to their beach and cave character.
