For the language of Narayan, see Narayani language.

Narani is a language created by Jack Wall for the music of Myst III: Exile. The largest sources come from the Myst III: Exile Soundtrack, in the main theme and in the bonus track.

[edit] Connections to other languages

Jack Wall claimed it was meant to be a D'ni dialect, but it is not related to D'ni at all:

Also, according the notes in the lyrics describe "Narani, a D'ni Dialect"-- how is it a dialect? (I'm really, really obsessive, eh? )

JW: Yes, I wrote all the lyrics for Exile (please don't hurt me... ). And yes, the language was Narani as the key Age in Exile was Narayan. Of course, I based it on the sounds and structure of D'ni which I studied in some conversations with RAWA. We both agreed that D'ni wasn't appropriate for Exile.

It is related to Jack Wall's other language, Serani, which suggests a relationship between Narayan (for Narani) and Serenia (for Serani), but the two appear to be otherwise unrelated.[1]

The Narayani Collective did some work recreating Narani, though it was mostly completely new.
