MYSTlore talk:Citations
From MYSTlore
- I have a question about Citations. Let's say I contact Tim Larkin, composer of the Myst soundtrack. If he says it's okay to use the information verbatim from his official website on that, do I have to have definite "proof" of his agreement. i.e. the copy of his email saying that it is okay? The reason I bring this up is because I did the Wikipedia article on Tim Larkin. I did ask him for permission for usage of the verbatim from his official site, and he did give it to me, for that purpose. ToriaURU 13:16, 6 November 2006 (CST)
- On the Wikipedia page, you left a note on the talk page; that's definitely a good idea, and you should do the same here. However, I would appreciate if you could also promise to archive that e-mail, just in case :-) (Not that I doubt you or anything. I have met Tim, and it would be very unusual of him not to allow this.) Chucker 13:24, 6 November 2006 (CST)
- On a happy note, I can say that I've got a lovely email from Tim Larkin giving me permission to use any information I'd like to use on this Wiki from his site. I quote
- Hi Deb,
- Feel free to quote anything you'd like from the website. Do I need to write something somewhere else in order for you to do that? Not sure where the "talk" page is... :) Best, Tim
- Me smiles. I'll work on it. ToriaURU 21:21, 6 November 2006 (CST)

Formerly from Talk:Main Page, largely irrelevant now:
- == Cite plug-in ==
- I've installed the Cite plug-in for MediaWiki. It's explained here, or in a more Wikipedia-specific manner here. In a nutshell, you use < ref > faux HTML tags to enclose a foot note, then put < references/ > at the end of a page to place all footnotes there. I've tested this on Ti'ana. I believe this could prove very useful to show sources on information that's very rare, such as stuff found in forum posts, etc. Chucker 09:47, 14 October 2006 (CDT)
- From now on, use {{references}} instead at the bottom. Chucker 07:57, 31 October 2006 (CST)
