[edit] Borrowing from Cyan?
Can we do a straight copy from stuff on Cyan's websites (such as the DRC site)?--JohnLynch 21:36, 4 November 2006 (CST)
- Not beyond the terms of fair use. E.g., you can quote complete sections (check D'ni timekeeping as an example; the "describe the units as follows" section is mostly copied verbatim), but you not, say, entire pages. In the cases where you're worried the DRC or Cyan might take content down (which does happen every now and then), archive their websites, as described at MYSTlore:Citations#Unavailability. Other than that, just quote from them, but also link to them (using, say, the references tags — again, the D'ni timekeeping article serves as an example of that). Chucker 07:14, 5 November 2006 (CST)

[edit] Wikipedia authors allowing Creative Commons by-nc 2.5 dual-licensing
- Chucker: I made a few contributions to Wikipedia in the Myst realm a few years ago, and all of that may be reused here if you find it useful. Chucker 06:50, 4 November 2006 (CST)

[edit] Licensing
Formerly from Talk:Main Page:
- Can I suggest that the site change to a GDFL license to be compatible with Wikipedia, and then start things off by downloading everything Myst-related from Wikipedia. Then there'd be a large body of content there already. ToriaURU 04:11, 6 November 2006 (CST)
- I don't want to start an argument, but… no, not under my "rule". I don't like share-alike/copyleft/GNU-esque licenses (since that's a never-ending discussion, it's probably pointless to bring it up here; this is just my stance; yours may differ). As suggested at MYSTlore:Acquiring content, you can contact people at Wikipedia or, say, MystWiki, if you feel their contributions were so relevant, unique and well-written that they should be copied here verbatim. However, I don't feel this is necessary; MYSTlore has grown at considerably pace, and I believe there is enough space on the Internet for multiple separate repositories of Myst information. - Thanks for the input, and fair enough. No arguement, but just a suggestion. I'll be happy to help out any way I can. :) ToriaURU 08:41, 6 November 2006 (CST)
