Teledahn is an Age. It is sometimes referred to as the Mushroom Age, as mushrooms are clearly its most distinguishing feature compared to most Ages.
As measured by the rotation cycle of its sun, a day's length in Teledahn, in human terms, appears to be only about 65 seconds, i.e. a day on Earth is about 1329 times as long. Installed machinery makes use of this fact to generate power, using a collector that rotates in the same direction and at the same velocity as the sun, capturing power and converting it to rotating gears, which in turn lead to various parts of the Age.
The historical records indicate that Teledahn was primarily a source of a kind of spores which were used in baking some types of bread which were very famous among the elite of D'ni. Some of the machinery and devices used for harvesting the spores are still operational.
The records also show that Teledahn has had many owners, and that the last ones (prior to the DRC and Douglas Sharper) used the lower levels of the Age as an illegal place for the traffic in slaves.

[edit] History
Teledahn was written in 8990 DE (1335 AD) for the 250th birthday of Lord Hinahsh. After his death it became a Caterer Age and was heavily industrialized under Guild Captain Ventus. This led to the exhaustion of the Age's resources and it was put up for sale in an auction.
Eventually Teledahn recovered and fell into the hands of Manesmo, who restarted the spore harvesting operation. However, he was actually using this as a front for a criminal slave trading operation that channeled slaves to Rebek. There was an investigation by the D'ni government but nothing was uncovered before the Fall.
In late 1997, the DRC appointed Douglas Sharper to look after this Age after brief inspection. He proceeded to jot down detailed observations in various journals, kept in the Baron's Office. By late 2002, however, the DRC and Sharper were not on friendly terms any more, causing a still-ongoing dispute on whether independent explorers should have access to Teledahn (and other areas the DRC has worked on), and if so, to what extent. Sharper and his followers took a much more liberal stance, whereas the DRC asserts that extreme caution is important.
The DRC used to have documentation about the Age on their website, but such information was removed when the site was redesigned. An archived copy from from October 2004 can still be accessed through the Internet Archive WayBackMachine.
[edit] Areas
[edit] Hut
Teledahn's main linking book points to a hut inside one of the bigger mushrooms. Its exact purpose isn't exactly known. It may be a storeroom of sorts, as there are several crates in and around the hut. It may also simply be built with its only use being an entrance to the sewers.
[edit] Prison cell
Sadly, Teledahn also reminds one of a darker aspect of D'ni society. From the looks of the prison cell accessible by climbing down below the hut (or through its back entrance), its inhabitants were treated extremely poorly. It is unclear to what extent the majority of D'ni knew about this, or were involved in it.
It had been assumed that some, perhaps all, of the people imprisoned here were Bahro. In his journals, Douglas Sharper reveals that they were used as slaves as well, such as for sports on the Age of Rebek; therefore, this area is also commonly referred to as a slave cave.
Recently, it was revealed by Nick White that the slaves here were not Bahro, but a different species entirely[1].
[edit] Feeding Platform
The Feeding Platform is a small dock with its only notable feature being a broken feeding machine. A Relto page can be found here. It is not accessible by normal means; a Bahro Stone in the city leads to this location.
[edit] Stump
A lone mushroom stump is accessible through a Bahro stone in the Baron's Office. It shows a view to the sea on one side, and to the walkways between the mushrooms on the other side. The purpose of this stump is unclear.
[edit] Control Room
Located above the sewers and the hut, but below the office, is a control room. This is where the "buckets" pass through and drop their cargo. There is also a machine that controls various things in the Age, such as the opening of the hatch to the sewers, and the on/off switch for the buckets.
[edit] Office
Located above the control room (still in the same mushroom) is the office. This is where Douglas Sharper worked when in the Age. It features a desk with various papers and drawings on it, windows overlooking the Age, a fish tank, and a Linking Book to the Baron's Office, Sharper's office in Ae'gura.
[edit] Fauna
Various animals have been spotted on Teledahn, including a kind of flying insect called a Buggaro, as well as a sea animal (dubbed Shroomie by Douglas Sharper during his studies) that appears to be afraid of humans and is therefore rarely seen. Various feeding machines have been installed, and have had moderate success at alluring the animals.
