A buggaro (from English "bug" and D'ni garo[?] (gahro), "great" or "big") is a flying insect in Teledahn.
[edit] Naming
The name was coined by Douglas Sharper as part of his Teledahn surveying as a DRC contractor. It is therefore not a native name by D'ni or Teledahn standards; such mixtures of English and (often slightly incorrect) D'ni are rather common for DRC associates to use. Sharper originally named them flappers, but changed it when Dr. Watson disapproved:
| “ | On a more typical note, Watson came by a few days ago asking me to name the wildlife here. They aren't finding the names the D'ni used for a lot of the animals. I don't think he really appreciated "Shroomie" and "Flappers". Anyway I named the birds here "Buggaros". I think some part of that is D'ni for big – that's what Nick said at least. Big bug. Wonder how they'll like that? | „ |

The more common transliteration of the D'ni portion of the word is gahro (with an h), but because of the identical pronunciation and Sharper's original spelling in the journal, buggaro ended up being the commonly-used spelling instead of buggahro.
