Amad

The Amad were a people dwelling in southwestern North America, remarkably advanced in that they possessed holographic technology. Gehn spent time among the Amad after leaving the Cleft and married one of them, Keta. Based on similarities in the imager technology, he believed they may have been related to the D'ni.
This theory was possibly just an example of Gehn's chauvinism, however, it's possible that a number of D'ni did go to live on the surface during the early settlement of the cavern.

The Amad, although a human tribe, can not be identified with any real-life tribe easily. The name "Amad" arguably has some quasi-Eastern quality, consistent to the earlier concept that the Cleft was somewhere in the Middle East, before the retcon that would place it in Eddy County instead. In that case, the Amad are a fictional tribe of Amerindians.
